Take part in Helix
Helix is built to be used. Whether you are a doctoral student looking for a research stay, a researcher with an idea for a joint project, a clinician, or a company interested in the Swedish or Brazilian ecosystem, there are ways to take part.
For companies and hospitals
Helix connects academia, health care and industry. Companies and hospitals can take part in workshops and pillar activities, host researchers on exchange, and contribute to the mobility programme, which is designed to be co-funded by academic, public and industry partners. If you want to understand how Helix could work for your organisation, get in touch with the coordination team.
For other universities and institutions
Helix starts with Karolinska Institutet, Lund University, Halmstad University and partners across Brazil, but it is designed as an open platform. Over time, other Swedish and Brazilian institutions can join. If your institution is interested, contact us.
Spend time in the partner country
Doctoral students and early-career researchers can spend extended periods in Sweden or Brazil, at a university, a hospital or a company. Helix plans 16–20 exchanges over three years, and each stay is linked to one of the three pillars, so that you join an existing community rather than starting from scratch. A clear route back into your home system helps the stay turn into lasting collaboration.
Apply for seed funding
Helix runs at least three seed calls to help Swedish and Brazilian researchers develop joint research proposals. The funding is meant to start something new: a first meeting, a pilot, a joint application. [Next call opens: date. Link to Funding calls]
Join a workshop
Each pillar holds a joint workshop every year, bringing together researchers, clinicians, students and partners from industry. They are a good place to meet potential collaborators and to help set the pillar’s priorities.
Develop your supervision
Doctoral supervision has a long tradition in Sweden and is in high demand in Brazil. Together with our Brazilian partners, Helix develops a train-the-trainer concept and a supervisor curriculum that supervisors from all partner institutions can take part in.
