Access to Data within IMAS
We welcome collaborations within the framework of the IMAS project and encourage researchers, PhD candidates, and master’s students – both in Sweden and internationally – to explore opportunities for conducting sub-studies based on IMAS data. IMAS data can also form the basis for a PhD or master’s thesis.
In accordance with the principles of open science, we aim to facilitate access to IMAS data for researchers worldwide, while rigorously safeguarding the privacy of research participants. Access to data is granted following the conditions stipulated in our ethical approval and the confidentiality assessments carried out by the relevant authorities. We adhere to strict protocols for data security and access, which are regularly reviewed in collaboration with involved researchers, as we regard confidentiality and security as continuous and evolving responsibilities.
Researchers, PhD students, and master’s students conducting sub-studies within the IMAS project may gain access to IMAS data in two ways:
- On-site access: Working with a limited, study-specific dataset on secure computers located at the Division of Insurance Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.
- Remote analysis support: Statistical analyses are carried out by IMAS project staff, based on the researcher’s requirements. The results are provided in aggregated (group level) form.
For both options, a study protocol approved by the project management is always required to ensure that the sub-study meets the ethical and legal requirements of the IMAS project. The lead researcher of the sub-study is responsible for covering the costs associated with the statistician’s time for study-specific data extraction and/or analysis. The hourly rate for these services ranges from SEK 485 to 700 (plus INDI), depending on the type of project.
