AMOS-studien

Rekrytering till studien var öppen mellan 2006 och 2008 och totalt ingår 81 ungdomar från hela Sverige, vilka har genomgått viktminskningskirurgi med den så kallade ”Roux-En-Y” Gastic Bypass metoden. Ungdomarna var vid operation i åldern 13 till 18 år och samtliga genomgick operationen i Göteborg.

Syftet med studien är att belysa om de positiva effekter som viktminskningskirurgi ger hos vuxna kan fås även i ungdomen och därigenom förbättra livskvalitet och förebygga insjuknande i komplikationer. Den centrala målsättningen är att genom intervention förhindra sjuklighet som leder till lidande och för tidig död.

De viktigaste studievariablerna är viktutveckling, metabola riskfaktorer, livskvalitet, ätmönster, kroppssammansättning och fysisk aktivitet.

Deltagarna i studien har undersökts noga inför operationen och samtliga har kallats till omfattande efterkontroller vid 1, 2, 5 och 10 år efter operation.

Studien är i sitt slutskede då tio år efter operation har förflutit och deltagarna är åter kallade för efterkontroll.

Studien har stor betydelse för det samlade kunskapsläget om effekterna av viktminskningskirurgi hos ungdomar och resultaten finns sammanfattade i flera publikationer.
