Forskningsbeskrivning

  • My research focuses on epidemiological and experimental aspects of hereditary
dyslipidaemias. I am a team leader in the newly formed Cardiometabolic unit
at MEDH7 department under Professor Paolo Parini. In my research team is
KI-associated researcher Karin Littmann, PhD student Tigist Wodaje, research
nurse Viveca Åberg and medical student Simon Sjuls. We also perform clinical
trials in phase II-III in the field of dyslipidaemia and lipid lowering
    therapy.
We study hereditary dyslipidaemias including Familial hypercholesterolemia,
elevated Lipoprotein(a) and Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome and their
effects on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, and
diabetes. In our clinical and experimental studies, we study their effects on
coronary blood flow capacity, endothel function and calcified aortic valve
disease biomarkers. In our epidemiological research, we are working with
regional and national cohorts to study their impact on various forms of
cardiovascular disease, development of cardiometabolic and liver disease.
