Medicine at KI DS

The research activities within internal medicine span a broad spectrum, ranging from clinical and experimental studies in immunology to method development for bedside analysis of microcirculation in critically ill patients. Focus areas include COVID-19, cancer, sepsis, venous thromboembolism, cardiac microcirculation, and inflammatory bowel diseases.

Research focus

Within the research area medicine, the research encompasses clinical, translational and experimental research, focusing on immunology, infections, vascular diseases and acute care. Studies of the mucosal immune system, sepsis, microcirculation and venous thromboembolism are providing new insights into the early diagnosis, risk assessment and personalised treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
