Gabriella Bröms

I finished her medical degree at Karolinska institutet in 2011, after completing the final clinical rotations at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. Parallell to completing my medical internship (AT) at Danderyd Hospital, I defended my PhD-thesis in 2015. In 2015-2017, I was the course leader for the Research School for Clinicians in Epidemiology held by Karolinska institutet with support from Stockholm Region. At that time, I held a Clinical Postdoc position at Stockholm Region. In 2017-2018 I spent time at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, Boston, to work with colleagues in the collaborative InPreSS study (International Pregnancy Safety Study). 
 
I am clinical specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Danderyd Hospital and still do research part-time. I am currently involved in several projects, including national and international collaborations, within the field of clinical epidemiology with special interests in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), venous thromboembolism (VTE) and drug treatment during pregnancy.

The studies included in the 2015 PhD thesis focused on the effects of chronic inflammatory disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in particular, and its treatment on pregnant women and their infants. My current projects include several epidemiological studies concerning inflammatory bowel disease, pregnancy and venous thromboembolism. 

I lead the Research School for Clinicians in Epidemiology 2015-2017. At that time I attended several courses in teaching. I continue to teach at several levels, from medical students to gastroenterology and internal medicine residents, as well as doctoral studients. I now lead a national course in inflammatory bowel disease for gastroenterology residents.
