About me

  • Gabriella Bröms finished her medical degree at Karolinska institutet in 2011, after completing the final clinical rotations at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. Parallell to completing her medical internship (AT) at Danderyd Hospital, she defended her PhD-thesis in 2015. In 2015-2017, she was the course leader for the Research School for Clinicians in Epidemiology held by Karolinska institutet with support from Stockholm Region. At that time, Gabriella held a Clinical Postdoc position at Stockholm Region. In 2017-2018 she spent time at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, Boston, to work with colleagues in the collaborative InPreSS study (International Pregnancy Safety Study).
     


  • She is now a clinical specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Danderyd Hospital and spends part of her time on research. She is currently involved in several projects, including national and international collaborations, within the field of clinical epidemiology with special interests in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), venous thromboembolism (VTE) and drug treatment during pregnancy.

Research

  • The studies included in the 2015 PhD thesis focused on the effects of chronic inflammatory disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in particular, and its treatment on pregnant women and their infants. Gabriella Bröms is currently involved in several epidemiological studies concerning inflammatory bowel disease, pregnancy and venous thromboembolism.
