Spring 2024 Schedule
Sanna Hjalmarsson: "The gut-brain axis and nausea of pregnancy in the SweMaMi cohort"
Sanna Hjalmarsson is a Master's student in the Infection Biology program at UU
Kyriakos Charalampous: "The gut microbiome of lean and obese SweMaMi participants"
Kyriakos Charalampous is a Master's student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program at UU
Zehra is a forensic and population geneticist with a research interest in biogeographical ancestry determination of individuals and holds a PhD in population genetics of South Americans with a focus on Y chromosome studies.
Arisa Kitagishi and Nelly Mäkinen are Master's students from Uppsala University who are both completing their Master’s thesis at CTMR.
They work on the same project, but from two different perspectives. Arisa peers over the project from the metagenomic standpoint. Her thesis aims to reveal possible gut microbial predictors of Post-Traumatic Epilepsy using machine learning algorithms and bioinformatic analysis. Nelly focuses on investigating whether there are correlations to be found between said gut microbes and serum metabolites that are associated with the development of Post-Traumatic Epilepsy by implementing omics data integration tools.
