Laura Poole

As Coordinator for the Divisions of Virology and Immunology and Tumor Biology, and for the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet, I play a central role in supporting the smooth and effective functioning of the department.

I provide broad administrative and operational support, coordinating meetings, events, travel, logistics, inventory, and procurement activities. I am actively involved in recruitment process management and am responsible for departmental space and resource management, ensuring that facilities and shared resources effectively support research and education activities.

Working closely with leadership, researchers, and administrative colleagues, I help facilitate systems, protocols, and workflows that promote collaboration, continuity, and operational efficiency across MTC. This includes supporting departmental development initiatives and strategic planning processes that contribute to the ongoing advancement of the department.

Beyond my core coordination responsibilities, I have contributed to scientific illustration and outreach activities, helping communicate and showcase the department's research and achievements.

Through this integrative role, I support the success of MTC's diverse research environment, a contribution recognized with the MTC:er of the Year 2023 award.
