Undergraduate and Masters education at FyFa
FyFa is responsible for a large number of freestanding courses and study programme courses in physiology, pharmacology, anesthesiology and intensive care. There are around 90 doctoral students registered at our department.
Master degree education
Since 2022 the department is also responsible for the Master Programme in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology, a 2-year global program that focuses on the thematic and practical integration of the two disciplines physiology and pharmacology towards a translational approach combining molecular mechanisms of bodily functions and disease with a whole-body-oriented understanding. The curriculum offers broad knowledge in translational aspects of physiology and pharmacology as well as practical skills in state-of-the-art methodology and know-how.
Throughout the two-year programme, integration of knowledge and skills is emphasized to foster a mindset of translating molecular and mechanistic understanding from basic research to novel therapy. While the first part of the programme focuses mostly on theoretical knowledge, the second part emphasizes the practical applicability of the learned skills in preclinical laboratories, as well as clinical or industrial settings.
