Combining parenthood and paid work

The possibility to combine parenthood and paid work among young individuals is an important part of the development of the society and working life.

During 1963-2002 the number of working men in Sweden decreased from 89% to 76 %, while the figures among women increased from 53% to 73 %. Simultaneously, the fertility has decreased, and difficulties to balance family and working life may be a contributing factor.
