Research at the Division of Audiology

Audiology is the science of hearing and includes the discovery, prevention, and therapy of hearing disorders.

A hearing disorder may be present at birth or be acquired later in life. It can result in hearing loss and/or tinnitus. Common causes are older age, disease, genetic defect, and noise exposure. At the Division of Audiology, research is performed mainly on the prevalence, causes, and prevention of hearing disorders.
