Om mig
- Marie Arsenian Henriksson blev professor i molekylär tumörbiologi vid Karolinska Institutet 2010. Sedan mars 2023 är hon också KI:s vicerektor för forskning. Hon har tidigare varit prefekt för institutionen för mikrobiologi, tumör- och cellbiologi (2006-2016), lärarrepresentant i konsistoriet (2019-2021) och är även ledamot i KI:s rekryteringsnämnd sedan 2021.
Forskningsbeskrivning
- Marie Arsenian Henrikssons forskning fokuserar på de så kallade MYC-generna, som är aktiverade i minst en tredjedel av alla cancerformer, inklusive lymfom, bröstcancer och neuroblastom. Neuroblastom är den barncancer som har störst dödlighet näst efter leukemi, och där amplifiering av MYCN-genen (N står för neuro) har samband med en sämre prognos.
Forskningen kring MYC-generna syftar till ökad kunskap om hur dessa gener fungerar under normala förhållanden respektive bidrar till utveckling av tumörsjukdomar. Kunskap som är viktigt för utveckling av nya, skräddarsydda cancerbehandlingar.
