User agreement
For projects at Centre for Imaging Research (CIR) to be completed efficiently, in a safe and rigorous manner, each projects PI have to sign a user agreement for the project. This serves to guide the process from idea to final manuscript with a clear division of responsibilities.
Registering a project
The principal investigator (PI) of the project are responsible that the information given when registering a project at CIR are correct and complete. If any information regarding the project change during the course of the project it is the responsibility of the PI to contact CIR and the involved core facilities to update the information.
Human participants
For projects scanning human participants - it is the responsibility of the researcher in charge of scanning to confirm that the participant has a valid Swedish personal identity number (personnummer). Subjects without such a number is not allowed to be scanned at CIR facilities.
Data flow
When recording data at a CIR facility it is strongly recommended to use a provided RedCAP-form to specify what subject is being scanned, by what researcher, for what project. If needed, custom solutions can be implemented on the initiative of individual researchers.
Data access
Raw data recorded at CIR will be pseudonymized and delivered in a project specific folder on the CIR-server "SPICE". This shared platform offer easy data access and compute resources to active projects. Each researcher active in the project that need access to the data will, after PI confirmation, receive a user account with access to the projects folder.
- Fill out this form to apply for a user account on SPICE
- Read the CIR-wiki page on how to connect to SPICE
Data storage
SPICE is not a backed-up long term data storage solution. Each PI is responsible for archiving data and clean data from SPICE as projects are completed. KI offer a variety of storage solutions to suit different needs.
Data encoding
The key for the pseudonymized data will be provided in the PI's personal home folder on SPICE, accessible only by the PI. It is the responsibility of the PI of the project to keep this key safe, backed-up and only shared with selected colleagues if necessary.
Authorship guidelines
Projects at CIR may involve contributions from staff at CIR or KI core facilities on how to run, improve, develop and quality-assure projects on either a technical or conceptual level. Projects may need training or assistance on how to perform measurements and/or require support in data analysis, interpretation and manuscript writing. The road map for projects at CIR provide an outline for areas of responsibility during different phases of a typical project.
Since all support from CIR or KI core facilities is made by academic staff, guidelines are provided to help evaluate and credit contributions of relevance to projects. The basis consists of the established Vancouver guidelines for authorship/acknowledgement. Adhering to these guidelines encourages collaboration and sharing of knowledge and expertise and enforce fair crediting of efforts made. On the practical side, this means contributions made throughout a project has to be kept track of, and that (only) those who qualify will be invited for authorship or will be acknowledged.
CIR require that academic and clinical projects keep track of who is involved in all aspects of a research project. The projects PI has the ultimate responsibility for keeping track of staff contributions. A template, provided below, is recommended for this purpose.
A general guideline is that 2-3 of the criteria listed in the template is a minimum, but sufficient, requirement for authorship, whereas only 1 category fulfilled motivates an acknowledgement.
