BSL3 Biomedicum serves a growing body of researchers at Karolinska Institutet working on risk-group 3 bacteria, parasites and viruses.
The facility is located in Biomedicum, in quarter C9, and was inaugurated in 2018.
It totals approximately 180 m2 of working space. It is is located close to the animal BSL3 facility at Astrid Fagraeus-Comparative Medicine, where the risk-group 3 pathogens handled at Biomedicum can be used in animal models of infection and animal tissues processed back at Biomedicum.
