About me

  • Clinically active as an Consultant

  • in Anesthesia and Intensive Care, as well as head of section at the unit of perioperative medicine Karolinska Hospital Huddinge in Stockholm. Conducting research in prehospital emergency care, trauma, anesthesia, and intensive care at KI/SÖS and teaching at Karolinska Institute.
Research group leader in Anesthesia/ICU, KI SÖS.

Research

  • I completed my PhD in 2016 with the dissertation Prehospital care of severely injured trauma patients: studies on management, assessment, and outcome, and since then, I have focused on research in perioperative medicine and intensive care.

  • Current PhD Projects

  • Trauma team activation and triage of severely injured patients in a regional trauma system
    Oscar Lapidus

  • This project investigates examines various aspects of the emergency process to evaluate and improve the care of severely injured trauma patients.

We also examine adherence to national trauma alert criteria and their clinical accuracy in early identification of severely injured patients.

  • Identifying patients with accelerated biological aging by assessing DNA-methylation as a biomarker for frailty in elderly patients

  • Ebba Hillstedt

  • By comparing DNA methylation with complications and changes in medical conditions in older adults, this project aims to correlate DNA methylation levels with frailty and biological age. By improving these assessments, frail patients can be more easily identified to facilitate the individualization and optimization of care for elderly patients.

  • Prediction models for hemorrhage and chronic symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury
    Li Yang
The goal of this project is to develop a model predicting the risk of brain hemorrhage and surgery-requiring hemorrhage following traumatic brain injury, as well as to map patients with mild traumatic brain injury and their care and sick leave needs, and identify risk factors predisposing them to long-term symptoms. The project is conducted in collaboration with Eric Thelin's research group at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience.
