About me

  • I am Assistant professor and Head of a unit at the Division of Nursing at NVS. I have a PhD in medicine, with emphasis on nursing science, patients with heart failure and thirst.

Research

  • My research has a special interest in thirst and patients with heart failure. I have developed a questionnaire, “The Thirst Distress Scale for patients with Heart Failure (TDS-HF)”, which assesses the degree of thirst distress. In international collaboration between Sweden, the
    Netherlands and Japan, the TDS-HF has been validated for patients with heart failure. An intervention will be planned for a future study, with the aim to prevent and relieve thirst in patients with heart failure.

    In my current research I study thirst in patients with heart failure in international collaboration. I also work with researchers in Sweden investigating the thirst experience in the context of palliative care and dying patients. I do also work with a project about supporting older, frail persons with heart failure perform self-care.

Teaching

  • I have worked as course coordinator and examiner in the nursing program's first course on research methodology, the nursing profession and nursing science. I have previously also served as supervisor in degree project in nursing at undergraduate and advanced level. Between 2017 to 2023 I was also the program manager of the Specialist Nursing program in Medical Care
