RESTAKE: Health system and community resilience during Covid-19 through the example of tuberculosis | Social medicine, infectious diseases and migration (SIM)

The RESTAKE project aims to examine the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on health system functioning and community resilience in two countries, Kenya and Tanzania.

The two countries have similar health systems and sociocultural setting, but initially starkly different pandemic containment efforts. The project will use comparative mixed methods case study with policy analysis, register analysis, facility surveys and qualitative data to examine resilience particularly with the perspective of treatment for TB and TB patients’ experiences. The project will be implemented with equal collaboration with partners in Tanzania (Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences) and Kenya (University of Nairobi).

The project is funded with a grant from the Swedish Research Council.
