Characterising and addressing the psychosocial impact of tuberculosis in Indonesia

This study aims to characterize the psychosocial impact of TB in Indonesia, including stigmatization and mental health disorders.

The study will: (1) capture the stigmatization faced by people with TB; (2) pilot a tool to measure stigma for scale-up, integration, and routine use by the National TB Program of Indonesia; and (3) identify and measuring stigma and mental illness reported by people with TB. Results from this study will be presented to the Indonesian government, also to a global audience, for improving strategies against TB-related stigmatization.

This study is funded by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, National Institute for Health Research.
