Vi bedriver forskning för att förbättra vård och behandling för patienter med skolios och andra ryggdeformiteter.

Skoliosforskning vid Karolinska Institutet och Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset

Områden som vi forskar inom är genetik, bendensitet och behandling av skolios.

Med hjälp av samarbeten inom och utom Sverige har vi startat ScoliGeneS (Scoliosis and Genetics in Scandinavia) - ett nordiskt samarbetsprojekt mellan forskare och Sverige, Danmark och Finland för att hitta de genetiska faktorer som styr utvecklingen av idiopatisk skolios. Detta har också via internationella samarbeten lett till ytterligare studier.

En annan studie kallas CONTRAIS och studerar behandlingsalternativ till korsettbehandling, men här är resultaten inte klara, men en del av dessa förväntas komma under 2021. Studier för att förbättra precision och resultat i samband med operation av skolios pågår.
