Tim Baker is a specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Karolinska University Hospital and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Karolinska Institutet.
His PhD thesis was “Critical Care in Low Resource Settings". His research interests include analysing the quality of hospital services, developing and implementing interventions to improve the care and outcomes of critically ill patients, Global Anaesthesia & Intensive Care and paediatric hypoglycaemia.
He has previously worked in Tanzania and is involved in several Global Health initiatives. He is the chairman of the Life Support Foundation and coordinator of the Muhimbili-Karolinska Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Collaboration (MKAIC) that both aim to improve the care of critically ill patients where resources are scarce. He is a founding member of the Global Intensive Care working group at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). In 2016 he is based in Blantyre, Malawi.
