Forskningsbeskrivning

 

ÅTERHÄMTNING AV IMMUNSYSTEM OCH INFEKTIONSSKYDD HOS BARN SOM GENOMGÅR CANCERBEHANDLING. Vår vision är att barn som gått igenom cancerterapi får en bra livskvalité genom att ha ett robust skydd mot pågående och framtida infektioner. Våra projekt undersöker i detalj, ex vivo och in vitro, hur cellgiftbehandling påverkar barnets immunsvar mot infektioner – akut såväl som långsiktigt. Utöver detta samarbetar vi med andra forskargrupper där tarmflorans roll i svar mot cellgiftsbehandling, och återhämtning av barnets immunsystem, efter leukemibehandling undersöks. En annan målsättning med gruppens forskning är att på klinisk nivå kartlägga vaccinationsskydd samt förekomst och typ av infektioner hos friska individer och barn som har bakomliggande sjukdomar.
