Spotlight on Vaccine Research

Vaccines have saved lives for more than 200 years, but the research area continues to evolve with new discoveries providing more effective and safer vaccines. With new knowledge, doors are opening to develop vaccines against, for example, cancer, dementia, and cardiovascular disease. The COVID-19 pandemic has given vaccine research a real boost – and in 2023, the discoveries behind the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
