Data storage
You can store and share your images acquired at the LCI core facility either by using the Karolinska Institutet L: drive or by using the LCI OMERO server.
KI storage space (L: drive)
The KI storage space is automatically backed-up by the IT office. You will have access to your storage space as long as you work at KI. This is independent of the Live Cell Imaging Core Facility.
To get access to the L: drive, contact the IT Support at KI and ask them to create you a folder on L: drive. Inform them who else should have access to your folder (for sharing purposes). Once you get a confirmation email from the IT office, follow the mapping instructions to access your drive and folder from any computer, including the Multi-user and Single-user Remote desktops. More information regarding drives and sharing can be found here.
LCI OMERO server
The LCI OMERO server is also located at KI so it is safe to use. The server can be accessed online from anywhere.
To be able to use the LCI Omero server, please ask us to create an account for you.
How to start using OMERO
- To be able to use the LCI Omero server, please ask the LCI facility staff to create an account for you. The first time you log in to OMERO please change your password by clicking on Administration/your name/user settings.
- Download the OMERO.Insight software to your computer and upload your images to the LCI OMERO server (follow the instructions in this video, Windows users: please download the .exe file). OMERO.Insight is only used to upload images to the LCI OMERO server. After the upload, accessing, viewing and working with your data is done via your internet browser, using OMERO web which has a lot more functions.
- Only upload images in the original format delivered by your microscope.
- Help to upload images with OMERO.Insight.
- Once the upload is finished, close OMERO.Insight as this is only used to upload data, not to work with them.
How to work with your data on the OMERO server
- Open your browser
- Type omero.ki.se in the address bar.
- Login with your credentials.
