I have worked at Karolinska Institutet since 2002. I am the coordinator for widening participation and equal treatment at KI.
Since 2015 I am also a Phd-student at the Department of Clinical Science and Education, Södersjukhuset (KI SÖS), S1
In my Phd-project we investigate the association between doctors specialty choice and a range of different factors such as educational background, cultural capital and personality traits.
In the first study we examine the associations between specialty and personality traits using BFI. 5 types of personality traits are used in the model - Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience.
In the second study we examine the associations between specialty choice and educational and socio-economic background. Inspired by theories of Pierre Bourdieu’s educational sociology we use the concepts “inherited and acquired educational capital” to analyze data about parents´ education and occupation. We will also look into sex/gender differences and personal factors such as civil status.
