About me

  • I obtained my professional diploma in physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet
    1993, Master of Science in physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet 1997 and I
    defended my PhD in medical sciences at Karolinska Institutet in 2002, titled
    “Lumbar muscle fatigue Analysis of electromyography, endurance time and
    subjective factors in patients with lumbar disc herniation and healthy
    subjects”.
    Between 2009-2015 I held a position as research assistant professor
    part-time, founded by Centrum för Vårdvetenskap. Since 2014, I am an
    associate professor in physiotherapy.
    My clinical background is in physiotherapy of neurology, neurosurgery and
    orthopedics with specialization in orthopedics.
    I have an extensive background as a leader of health care, as head of
    physiotherapy at neuro division (2005-2011), director of the department of
    Physiotherapy (2011-2016) and managing director of the Allied Health
    professionals function (2016-2020), senior strategic advisor of Research
    Education and Innovation (2021) at the Karolinska University Hospital and
    Health director of region Dalarna (2021-).

Research

  • My research focus is on patients with neck pain or back pain of different
    origin with a special interest in exercise and physical activity, muscle
    function and behavioral interventions.

Teaching

  • My areas of teaching expertise are health care management, evidence based
    practice, physiotherapy. I have supervised one PhD-student and one post-doc
    as main supervisor, three PhD students as co-supervisor and 19 students'
    theses (bachelor and masters degree).
