Adverse outcome pathways (AOPs)-principles and applications
Course dates
November 3-7, 2025
The course starts at 13.00 on November 3 and ends at 11.30 on November 7. Take-home exam handed in latest 14 November.
Location
The course will be given at Karolinska Institutet, Campus Solna, Stockholm, Sweden as an in-person course only. On-line participation will not be possible.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to:
- describe the principles and components of AOPs
- explain how AOPs are developed and assessed
- discuss how AOPs can be applied in toxicological research and risk assessment
- identify and discuss challenges in development and application of AOPs
Content
The course will include the concept and principles of AOPs. Development and assessment of AOPs will be discussed. Application of the AOPs in toxicological research and risk assessment will be provided.
Teaching and learning activities
The course will include lectures, exercises and group assignments.
Target group
The training course is addressed to PhD students and researchers as well as participants from authorities who benefit from understanding the principles and applications of AOPs for their work in PARC or for other research or risk assessment activities. This course is open for both PARC members and non-members, although priority will be given to PARC members.
Course fee
There are no registration fees; however, participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and any other incidental expenses.
