Donating via shares, securities or dividends

Karolinska Institutet welcomes donated shares or securities to be used in our medical research.

If you are considering donating shares or other securities to Karolinska Institutet, it is good to know that transferring such assets leads to additional value for Karolinska Institutet or its associated foundations, as KI has a limited tax liability when it comes to donations for research and education. This means that no capital-gains tax is payable in case of sale.
For more information about how to donate shares or securities, please contact Karolinska Institutet’s Foundation Manager Tove Älvemark Asp.

Donation via dividends

If you own shares privately, you can donate the rights to any future dividends tax-free to Karolinska Institutet. This applies to dividends on both listed shares and shares in unlisted companies, such as a proprietary company.
