Collaboration with Japan
Karolinska Institutet has collaborated with Japanese universities and institutes for a long period of time. The collaboration includes both education and research activities with Japanese universities, hospitals and institutions, but are mainly focused on research activities. The collaborations with RIKEN has been going on for over 20 years and with The University of Tokyo, KI has together with KTH and Stockholm University a strategic partnership.

In 2017 Karolinska Institutet, KTH and Stockholm University, (Stockholm Trio) entered into a partnership with Tokyo University.

To facilitate new and existing contacts between researchers and doctoral students as well as increase research collaboration with the University of Tokyo, KI and the Internationalisation Advisory Council is pleased to announce the availability of limited competitive funds for a lab visit (1-3 awards).
