Research at the Center for Embryonic and Prenatal Precision Medicine - PRECISE spans the full continuum of reproductive medicine: from in vitro laboratory models of early embryogenesis through to advanced imaging and clinical diagnostics for the unborn child. Our two main research pillars work in close collaboration to ensure that discoveries at the bench reach patients in the clinic.

Non-invasive preimplantation and prenatal genetic testing and diagnosis
The combined ultrasound and blood test to screen for fetal aneuploidies will phase out in Sweden before 2028, and it is likely to be replaced by Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) in the public healthcare system. As this test can also be used for screening, as well as for the diagnosis of several other genetic conditions, the development and validation of pipelines for genetic diagnosis using cfDNA should be prioritized.
