Recap 6th Swedish Cancer Research Meeting
The 6th Swedish Cancer Research Meeting was held on 16-17th of May-2023 at Aula Medica,Karolinska Insitutet, Stockholm. The meeting was arranged jointly by Cancer Research KI, U-CAN from Uppsala and Umeå University, Lund University Cancer Centre, and Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research.
More than 550 researchers attended the meeting bringing together the largest Swedish network of cancer researchers. The meeting covered a broad area of cancer research including prevention, microbiome, and inflammation, radiomics, spatial transcriptomics, epigenetics, and cell plasticity as well as childhood cancer. Invited speakers from clinical as well as the pre-clinical research areas presented their findings.
International keynote speakers included a selection of renowned scientist including Prof. Johann De Bono (The Institute of Cancer Research, London), Dr. Luis Diaz (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center), Prof. Laura J. Esserman (University of California, San Francisco), and Prof. Regina Beets-Tan (Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam).
The program included vibrant poster session with more than 160 posters presented by researchers from different universities. Several break-out sessions were organized on different topics of interest in cancer research. Additionally, several exhibitions from pharmaceutical industry representatives gave the opportunity for researchers to interact and get an insight into the latest technologies and products offered. The event was complemented with a mingle event and a joint conference dinner for interaction and networking.
The 7th Swedish Cancer Research Meeting will be held in Lund University during 2025.
