Forskningsbeskrivning

Förnärvarande pågår min forskning inom flera parallella projekt med det övergripande syftet att bättre förstå såväl patofysiologiska mekanismer för som praktiska följder av, de varierande symptom som barn, unga och  vuxna med cerebral pares (CP),  andra motorikstörningar och mer ovanliga ofta paroxysmala tillstånd har.

Målsättningen är att med en förbättrad kunskap kunna förändra och förbättra interventioner och utfall för gruppen så att andelen med god social integration ökar. Rent konkret innebär detta olika typ av projket; epidemiologiska cohort baserade projekt där stora grupper av unga vuxna med CP kartläggs analytiskt ur hälso och social integrations aspekt. Epidemiologiska regisetrbaserade studier där maternalla faktor för rsik att barnet utvecklar CP eller epilepsi analyseras. Perceptions studier av barn med CP och studier där mycket små barn med tecken till tidig hjärnskada randomiseras till olika behandlings interventioner. Vidare patofysiologiska studier av synmekanismer samt läsande hos barn med CP. Slutligen genomför min grupp också en akademisk klinisk läkemedelsprövning där smärta vid CP hos vuxna behandlas.

Primära motorikstörningar är mycket ovanliga hos barn men sedan många år studerar vår grupp den vanligaste; idiopatisk tågång eller ITW. Vi studerar också en ovanlig paroxysmal primär motorikstörning som drabbar små barn och där en senare koppling till migrän-betydligt vanligare-har rapporterats.

Projekten sker huvudsakligen vid  enheten för neuropediatrik , KBH,  vid Bernadotte laboratoriet-  Institutionen för Klinisk neurovetenskap samt Institutionen för medicin, Solna (MedS).
