The research at the Center for Infectious Medicine is focused around studies of the human immune system and infection-immunity in humans.

At the centre, we conduct broad research across several areas with the aim of developing new treatments for common public health diseases such as overweight/obesity, diabetes, lipid disorders, infertility, and neurodegenerative conditions.

Research at the GUT unit primarily focuses on liver diseases, nutrition and metabolism, and gene regulation. Our work spans from basic molecular science to translational research, epidemiology, patient-centered and clinical studies, as well as disease prevention.

The research focus is to improve understanding and treatment of hematologic disorders and to explore basic cellular, molecular and immunological mechanisms with relevance for hematopoiesis, cell therapy and tumor development. Most of the unit's research groups are located within the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM).

The unit's vision is to contribute to improved care in heart and lung diseases, working with scientific evaluation and development of current diagnosis and treatment, and also with development of new mechanistic knowledge, diagnosis and treatment.
