• Start planning well ahead of your visit (6–12 months in advance).
• Find a collaboration partner or supervisor (see “How to get started”).
• Determine the exact period of your visit.
• Visit the Japanese Embassy website for information on visas.
• Ask for required documents from your Japanese collaboration partner/supervisor.
• Look for housing via Airbnb and similar services..
