Neo-IsoCore - user guidelines
Guidelines for accessing Neo-IsoCore, including mandatory training, radiation licensing, waste procedures, fees, and publication acknowledgement rules.
New user
All new users are required to complete an introduction to Neo-IsoCore with designated staff before commencing any work. A one-time access fee will be charged for each new user.
Radiation safety courses
Note: Users booking our instruments or facility (except the cryostat) must be licensed by the Karolinska Radiation Safety Officer Sofia Skyttner (Strålskyddsexpert; sofia.skyttner@ki.se) to work with radioisotopes.
Please note that radiation safety training should be repeated at least every 5 years.
In addition, users must hold a valid local license permitting work with radioactive materials.
Completion of an approved radiation and KI Lab safety training course is mandatory, along with specific training in the proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioisotopes and radioactive waste. Access to the facility will only be granted once all required training and documentation have been completed and verified.
Radioactive waste
The handling and disposal of radioactive waste are governed by specific Karolinska Institutet regulations and strict internal procedures. All users must comply with these requirements when working with radioisotopes.

Acknowledging Contributions to Scientific Publications
When Neo-IsoCore staff have made substantial contributions to a study, such as involvement in experimental design, method development, execution of experiments, or data analysis, and meet the criteria for authorship as defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (Vancouver recommendations), they should be appropriately included as co-authors.
For studies conducted at the facility, or where facility staff have contributed without meeting authorship criteria, their support should be recognized in the acknowledgements section of the publication.
An example wording is:
“The authors would like to acknowledge the Neo Isotope Core Facility, approved by the Karolinska Institutet infrastructure board and Neo steering group, for providing [specify the services or resources used].”
