HER MIND - Interdisciplinary Network for Innovation and Development
Women's mental health (WMH) is an emerging area addressing the full spectrum of mental health challenges women face, including conditions like mood disorders, which disproportionately affect women, as well as conditions like ADHD and autism that are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed in women. HER MIND dedicated to advancing WMH operates under a newly established network at Karolinska Institutet (KI), designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive innovative research for WMH.

At the core of our mission is to develop effective prevention, diagnostic, and intervention strategies for WMH. We conduct interdisciplinary, cutting-edge, patient-centered research that evaluates and innovates both biological and psychosocial informed approaches.
Increasing Knowledge and Awareness
We enhance understanding and awareness of WMH issues through dissemination of knowledge, research and evidence-based care information via publications, public-engagement events, and online platforms, to the public and caregivers, spotlighting unique mental health needs of women.
Education of New Researchers
We are dedicated to educating future leaders in WMH by providing talks, mini-courses, mentorships, and collaborative projects, cultivating expertise in WMH research.
Establishing a Cross-disciplinary Hub of Excellence
Our goal is for KI to be a recognized international leader in WMH research. We leverage our interdisciplinary and translational approach to advance knowledge of the biological mechanisms underlying WMH.
