About me

  • Associate Professor Vanja has a background in Nursing (RN) and Public Health (MPH) with PhD in Global Health (from Sudan) at Karolinska Institutet (2005). Vanja holds since 2019 a position as senior lecturer at the division of Caring, at the Department of Neurobiology, Caring Science and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Vanja has skills in co-ordination in different contexts. She has experience of being part of several govert missions (Sweden) in childrens's health/women's health related issues, and she had a lomnger mission in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights at the Public Health Agency of Sweden (2022). She has previous and on-going experiences of long-term international collaborations both in research and in students- and teaching exchange (ex. Linneus-Palme and ERASMUS/UKÄ) as example with universities in Jordan, Uganda, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Syria and Thailand in the wide scope of Global health including environmental health.

       Vanja has a broad scope when it comes to teaching, and she co-ordinate courses at present at the division of Nursing at NVS/KI in scientific methods and primary health/public health.

       In the research projects and in the research team/network United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are present. Vanja has published more than 60 scientific articles in international journals and chapters  (incl. two editorshio) in 12 books.
