- Swedish Research Council for Health Working Life and Welfare1 February 2025 - 31 January 2028The Moving People network is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to exploring the complex interrelations between migration, health, and social participation. Our primary objective is to foster collaboration among diverse research projects while enhancing the competencies of network partners through the integration of varied disciplinary insights. This network is distinguished by its rich interdisciplinarity, encompassing fields such as geography, nursing, occupational therapy, medicine, epidemiology, ethnology, anthropology, and sociology. By leveraging this diverse expertise, we aim to address migration-related challenges with innovative research approaches and fresh perspectives. It is pivotal for the he Swedish context to get a comprehensive view of health, social participation in relationship with migration to promote equity, improving health outcomes, and fostering inclusive societies that value diversity. Our activities will include one onsite meeting per year, alternating between Malmö, Stockholm, and Umeå, complemented by online seminars and planning sessions. These gatherings will facilitate knowledge exchange, the development of new research projects, and the design of innovative health services, all while emphasizing intersectional perspectives. We recognize the importance of engaging with individuals who have migration experiences and collaborating with local organizations to promote social participation and conviviality. Our research agenda is informed by a critical perspective on migration issues, advocating for an inclusive approach rooted in human rights. By addressing health disparities and barriers to social participation, the Moving People network aspires to contribute to transformative research that enhances the well-being of migrant populations in Sweden.
