Sokratis Nifakos
Research
I hold two bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and in Social Science (Psy) and a master's degree in Health Informatics.I successfully completed my Licentiate degree in 2023. My work focuses on the critical role that human factors play in forming effective cybersecurity strategies within healthcare organizations. This includes examining how human behavior, decision-making, and organizational culture influence the adoption, implementation, and efficacy of cybersecurity measures. During my research time, we developed a new methodology (Cyber Hygiene Methodology) for measuring awareness level between staff in healthcare organizations. My publications focus on understanding how technical, social, and organizational dynamics impact the successful implementation of cybersecurity policies. They also propose actionable solutions to empower healthcare organizations to proactively address cybersecurity risks and data privacy concerns. Beyond my technical duties right now, as system developer in LIME and member of the E-Health core facility, I am actively engaged in leading research-driven initiatives at KI. I served as the Principal Investigator for the SECANT project, where I contributed to developing advanced cybersecurity and data protection solutions for healthcare systems. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator for the RAISE project, which focuses on triaging patient models by utilizing datasets for improving AI algorithms and federated learning methods, as well as developing a secure framework for AI and ML processes in healthcare and clinical research.
