About me
- Sebastian is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the King Lab at the Institute
for Protein Design, University of Washington, Seattle and affiliated to
Karolinska Institutet.
I completed my doctoral studies in the research group of Professor Karin
Loré studying how B cell responses are modulated by nanoparticle vaccine
formulations. In particular, I studied how the breadth and potency of
anti-viral antibody and B cell responses is affected by antigen display. My
thesis was titled: "Cellular and molecular mechanisms for induction of broad
anti-viral B cell responses through vaccination [1]."
2023 Sven Gard Prize for Best Thesis in Virology at Karolinska Institutet in

2017-2022 PhD in Medical Science, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
2014-2016 Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology, KTH Royal Institute of
Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
2010-2014 Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, KTH Royal Institute of
Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Research
- A better understanding of how the immune system interacts with vaccines will
allow us to rationally select formulations that have the capacity to elicit
stronger immunity and can be advanced into clinical testing. Our studies can
ultimately provide information on vaccine antigen persistence, distribution,
and the immunological steps for the onset of B cell responses to understand
the generation of high-quality and durable antibody responses.
