About me

  • Affiliated to Karolinska Institutet, Division of Nursing, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences

  • and Society.
Was from January 2019 until February 2024 working as a university lecturer at Karolinska Institutet.
  •

  • In addition to long experience of training in nursing education and independent interprofessional courses at Mälardalen University (15
years) and at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University (3 years), I have a

  • background as a registered nurse in elderly care and geriatric care. I am also a

  • registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and have 10 years of experience from
  • blood banking and transfusion medicine.

  • My main teaching and interest areas concern gerontology, geriatrics, and palliative care from an interdisciplinary perspective. I am also interested
in existential health and aging in a multicultural and global perspective.

  • Within these areas, I have developed and held courses at undergraduate and
  • advanced levels and collaborated with teachers from universities in other
  • parts of the world.

Research

  • I have participated in research projects on registered nurses’ perceived

  • aspects on working with evidenced based care when nursing frail older adults
  • and in a project about the autonomy of older adults in home care. Another educational research project, Teaching Gerontology from a Global Perspective, is in collaboration with colleagues at universities in Thailand.

  • I am currently engaged in an educational research project about integrating theory in ethics to gerontological nursing care and

  • in a project which involves a course assignment - Conversations on
  • Death - Swedish Nursing Students Reflect on Existential Needs.
