About me

  • Dr Jennifer Lees, MA (Cantab) MBChB MRCP(Neph) PhD FERA, is a Wellcome Trust Early Career Fellow and Lead for Data Science (School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health, University of Glasgow) and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist (NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde). She graduated from the Universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh then moved to Glasgow to train in Renal and General Internal Medicine in 2013.

Dr Lees undertook a PhD at the University of Glasgow exploring the role of vitamin K supplementation in vascular health and disease among patients with kidney disease. She led the ViKTORIES trial (ISRCTN22012044; Kidney Research UK) and was a co-investigator on the K4Kidneys trial (ISRCTN21444964; British Heart Foundation). During a post-doctoral lectureship (Chief Scientist Office, Scotland), she explored the relationship between chronic kidney disease using healthcare data. Using routine healthcare and trial individual participant-level data, Dr Lees is now investigating the role of kidney function in the selection, delivery, efficacy and safety of cancer treatments, and the influence on subsequent outcomes (Wellcome Trust, 2024-2029).
