Helena Hervius Askling

I am a Medical Doctor, Senior Consultant, and Associate Professor in Infectious Diseases, with Public Health engagement and expertise in vaccinology. I have many years of clinical work as an ID-specialist as well as long experience as a Medical Officer and Head of Department at the Regional Department of Communicable Diseases Control and Prevention. At the Study Unit, Academic Specialist Centre, Stockholm Health Care Services, I am PI for several academic and externally sponsored Clinical Vaccine Trials. At the Centre for Health Crises at KI, I am the Expert Coordinator in the field of Infectious Diseases and Vaccine Preparedness. I chair the Vaccine Expert Group of Swedish Society for Infectious Diseases Physicians. Moreover, I am the Course Leader and Founder of the first University-level Vaccinology Course in Sweden. As a Medical Doctor volunteer I serve at the Medical Policlinic of Doctors of the World/Medicine du Monde, in Stockholm.

• Vaccine immunogenicity and effect in different subpopulations such as immunosuppressed, pregnant, elderly and obese persons
• Vaccination/implementation/health economics and clinical outcome in relation to vaccination status

Many invited talks and numerous lectures, in Sweden and internationally, on Vaccine Preventable Diseases, Vaccinology and Public Health in relation to Infectious diseases and Vaccines. Course Leader and Founder of the annual 2-week course "Vaccinology in practice" for Medical Doctors and nurses, since 2013.
