About me

  • Speech language pathologist since 1993, PhD at Karolinska Institutet in 2002.
Employed as Speech language pathologist at Karolinska University Hospital.
Clinical work mainly involves team assessments of children with
neurodevelopmental disorders. Primarily the patients are children with drug
resistant epilepsy. The work with this patient group has also involved method
development of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) for mapping
cortical language networks in children before planned epilepsy surgery. Since
2015, the clinical work involves adult patients with brain tumors who are
planned for awake neurosurgery, which routinely comprises pre- and post-op
language assessments, preoperative language mapping with navigated
transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) and language monitoring during the
    awake neurosurgery.

Research

  • Current research questions involve investigating:
    * The development of language and communication skills in children with
    autism spectrum disorders.
    * Postoperative functional outcome in glioma patients who received treatment
through awake neurosurgery - overall functions and more specifically
    regarding language functions
