Filippa Folke

I am a licensed psychologist with an MSc in Psychology from Uppsala University. My professional background is primarily in work and organizational psychology, including psychological testing and assessment, as well as group and leadership development.

In May 2026, I completed my doctoral studies at Karolinska Institutet with my thesis, Fit for Flight – Working Conditions and Mental Health as Integrated Safety Risks in European Aviation.

I am currently a lecturer and researcher at the Division of Psychology, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. 

My research interest lies mainly in the conditions of modern working life and what consequences these have for individuals' health. Specifically, my interest is how working conditions and organization can be linked to safety within high-risk organizations. I have worked in the projects Sustainable flight safety and Feeling the Cabin Pressure? The project examines the flight safety consequences of pilots' and cabin crews' working conditions and health -  as well as how sustainable safety can be created within the framework of the special conditions that prevail in aviation.

Currently, I am involved in a research project on the working conditions of local politicians in Sweden. The project examines how the demands  associated with local political office influence health and well-being, as well as factors associated with intentions to remain in or leave political office. By improving our understanding of the conditions under which local politicians work, the project aims to contribute knowledge that can support both the long-term health and well-being of politicians and a sustainable local democracy.

I teach in the Psychology Programme, specializing in Work and Organizational Psychology, primarily for students in semesters 5 and 6.

I am also the teacher for several psychology courses within the Speech and Language Pathology Programme: Psychology from a Lifespan Perspective (4.5 credits), Social Psychology (4.5 credits), Cognitive and Neuropsychology 1(3 credits), and Cognitive and Neuropsychology 2 (3 credits).

In addition, I teach in a freestanding course on mixed methods research and supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses.
