About me

  • I am a licensed medical doctor (Italy) specialised in Clinical Geriatrics with a PhD in Geriatric Epidemiology.  I am employed as a post-doctoral researcher at the Aging Research Center, NVS, working in the area of geriatric mental health in Serhiy Dekhtyar's research group.

    I am currently engaged in an international research stay in the group of Prof. Brenda Penninx at the Deparment of Psychiatry, Amsterdam UMC, in the context of an international postdoctoral grant from the Swedish Society for Medical Research (SSMF).

Research

  • My main clinical and research interests concern the field of geriatric psychiatry, specifically depression in late life. My PhD project focused on the interplay between depression and the burden of somatic diseases in late life, exploring both symptoms heterogeneity and disease patterns. 

    Currenly, I am involved in research on:

    • The aging process in depression
    • Biomarkers of depression in late life
    • Multimorbidity and mental health
    • Neuropsychiatric symptoms before dementia

Teaching

  • I have been involved in teaching at KI in both master and doctoral courses in epidemiology, geriatric epidemiology, and mental health in old age.
