Emmanouela Sdona

I am a pediatrician at Sachs' Children and Youth Hospital, Children and Youth Clinic in Handen, and affiliated researcher in epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet.

I received my MD from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, Greece, a MSc in public health from Karolinska Institutet, and a Doctoral Degree (PhD) from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, Greece.

Following my interest in epidemiology, I worked as a trainee and scientific expert at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Stockholm (2017-2018), as a postdoc in the Environmental Epidemiology Unit at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet (2018-2022), and as an epidemiologist at the Centre for occupational and environmental medicine (CAMM), Stockholm (2022-2023).

My research interests include respiratory medicine and allergy, nutrition and environmental epidemiology, public health and social medicine with focus on child health. I am peer reviewer for several academic journals.

I have experience in teaching epidemiology at master level and supervised a number of MSc and medical students. In addition, five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education.
