About me
- I am a clinical psychologist and Ph.D. at Karolinska Institute. My research
mainly focuses on psychological aspects such as emotion regulation and
self-image in relation to eating disorder development and maintenance. As I
previously worked within child and adolescent psychiatry, I’m also
interested in eating disorders in that population. Besides my doctoral
project, I’m a project coordinator for a clinical trial of the treatment
program compuLsive Exercise Activity theraPy (LEAP) that targets compulsive
exercise in eating disorders. I’m also a qualitative researcher within the
project Polygenic risk of Anorexia nervosa and its Clinical Expression (PACE)
examining experiences of hunger, satiety and negative energy balance in
individuals with past or present anorexia nervosa in relation to their
genetic anorexia risk. Finally, I’m also doing neurocognitive assessments
within the project Comprehensive Risk Evaluation for Anorexia nervosa in
Twins (CREAT) examining possible differences between identical twins where
one but not the other has had anorexia nervosa.

Research
- My doctoral project examined associations between emotion dysregulation
(difficulties understanding and managing emotions) and eating disorder
severity, diagnosis and outcome. It also examined associations between
emotion regulation and self-image in relation to eating disorder
psychopathology, hoping to clarify how these psychological variables may
simplify or complicate eating disorder recovery. I have also examined
psychometric properties of the questionnaire Difficulties in Emotion
Regulation Scale measuring emotion dysregulation. Besides the research
related to the LEAP and PACE projects, I have also contributed to research
using registry data examining suicidality in eating disorders and behavioral
eating disorder symptoms such as compulsive exercise and binge-eating.
