About me

  • Daniel R. Muth is a fully-trained ophthalmology consultant. He has previously
    worked at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital, LMU Munich,
    Germany (2016-2022) and at the Department of Ophthalmology, University
    Hospital Zurich, University of Zurich, Switzerland (2022-2023). Daniel has
    joined Karolinska Institutet in June 2023 as a research specialist at the
    Division of Eye and Vision, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska
    Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
    During his training, Daniel completed fellowships at Wilmer Eye Institute,
    Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, United States and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London,
    United Kingdom.
    His research focus has been mainly related to multimodal imaging (photo, OCT,
    OCT-angio, ultrasound, augmented reality) and diagnosis and treatment for
    exudative and non-exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) as well as
    Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON).
    He acts as a journal reviewer for Investigative Ophthalmology &

    Science (IOVS), International Ophthalmology (INTE), Journal of Glaucoma
    (JOG), and Translational Vision Science &
  • Technology (TVST). He is a member
    of Young Retina Specialists (YOURS) of the European Society of Retina
    Specialists (EURETINA), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons
    (ESCRS), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Swiss (ARVO
    Swiss), and German Ophthalmologic Society (DOG).
