About me

  • I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral candidate in Anna Beronius’ research group in the Biochemical Toxicology Unit at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM), Karolinska Institutet. I joined the group in 2025 as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie NeXED Doctoral Network

My PhD project, Next generation regulatory assessment and identification of endocrine disrupting chemicals, investigates mechanism-based approaches for identifying and assessing chemicals that may act as endocrine disruptors in humans. The project is anchored in the Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) framework to organise and integrate mechanistic data across in silico, in vitro, in vivo, and human studies, with a focus on leveraging data from the zebrafish model to inform cross-species extrapolation and regulatory application. This work contributes to advancing regulatory toxicology by improving mechanistic understanding and assessment strategies for endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

Research

  • My research interests centre on mechanism-based toxicology and the development of new approaches for chemical risk assessment. I am particularly interested in the use of Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs) to integrate mechanistic evidence across in silico, in vitro, in vivo, and human data streams to support the identification of endocrine disrupting chemicals. I also work on cross-species extrapolation, using zebrafish models and transcriptomic data to understand conserved mechanisms of developmental toxicity. More broadly, I am interested in predictive toxicology, QSAR modelling, alternative testing strategies, and advancing animal-free methodologies within a One Health regulatory framework.
