About me
I am a Norwegian physician and researcher, educated at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. On September 20th 2024, I defended my dissertation titled "Treatment and Prevention of Neonatal Sepsis, " a research area that has provided me with in-depth knowledge in neonatal research and immunology. In connection with this, I have collaborated with international research groups and leading experts.
Research
I am deeply interested in exploring the complexities of the immune system, with a particular focus on "immune homeostasis." This refers to the fine balance the immune system maintains to protect the body from harmful stimuli while preventing excessive or misdirected immune responses that can lead to uncontrollable or persistent inflammation.
My research focuses on addressing gaps in our understanding of how the immune system operates at a molecular level. I am particularly interested in how immune cells communicate through signaling proteins like cytokines and the complement system. These molecules are crucial for regulating immune responses, ensuring proper communication between cells, and maintaining the balance necessary for overall health.
By deepening our knowledge of these interactions, I aim to uncover the mechanisms behind various medical conditions, including persistent widespread pain, and infections. This insight could lead to improved diagnostic tools, more effective treatments, and better prevention strategies. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to advances in personalized medicine, enabling therapies to be tailored based on a more detailed understanding of individual immune systems.
Teaching
I believe research dissemination is a vital part of the research process. I've explored various ways to communicate my work to the public and will continue to do so. From writing blog posts to creating YouTube videos, I’ve aimed to make complex ideas accessible and engaging. In the future, I plan to explore more diverse methods to ensure my research reaches a wide audience and contributes to public understanding.
