Aleksiina Martikainen

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, currently pursuing a PhD at Karolinska Institutet. My research focuses on extended working lives, with a particular emphasis on healthcare workers. What do we really know about who stays and who leaves the labour market after the retirement age? Does history of sickness absence, occupation, and employment sector play a role? Are there differences between women and men? To address these questions, I use unique Swedish register data and longitudinal methods to explore patterns and determinants of labour market participation and sickness absence after age 65.

I also work as a lecturer at DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia, where I teach two courses: Public Mental Health and Psychology of Emerging Adulthood.
